I was born and raised in Charlotte, N.C. I am a graduate of East Mecklenburg H.S., followed by two programs at Campbell University. I lived in Raleigh for 10 years following my graduation from Campbell. Shortly before my husband and I married in 2014, we moved back to Charlotte to be near my family. I love living in the Queen City and love that this is also my hometown! My husband, Heath, and I have been married for almost 10 years (8/2/2014) and we have two daughters, Lillie (8) and Stella (6). Heath served in the United States Navy and United States Marine Corps for a total of 14 years. Heath received two Purple Hearts for injuries sustained during the war in Afghanistan among many other awards for his bravery and for leadership as a platoon squad leader of Combat Engineers. As a family, we enjoy exploring our city and experiencing new things together. We also love to give back to our community, whether it be through our church (Lakeview Baptist); volunteering, baking, and serving meals at Ground 40; assisting with local food harvests and food drives through neighboring churches (St. Matthews Catholic church) by packaging meals for families in need living close by or in other countries; and making cards for homeless or orphaned children through the Bright Blessings organization, which is something my daughters get such joy from doing. We hope that by giving back as a family, our blessings will flow into others. As a family, we also love to travel! We travel to Iowa each year to visit my husband’s family, and we really
enjoy going to the beach. Our new favorite destination is Dollywood!
Also, I support a few families that I have remained close friends with following my time as an educator to one or more of their children. I often use my time to support them with their child’s needs by attending IEP meetings with them and helping them find the best resources for their loved ones.
There is such fulfillment in being able to help others and give back. Supporting children with unique needs while also supporting the people who educate and enrich their lives is a true passion of mine.
